Senior A Predictions
Ealandians v Alwoodley
Lying second from bottom, Ealandians go into this on the back of last weeks draw with Trinity. They lost to St Nicks the week before and last won in the league in Jan, with a convincing win over Huddersfield. Their form since Xmas hasn’t been great and they will want to get all 3 points in this weeks reverse fixture (Alwoodley won the home leg with a narrow 1-0). Alwoodley haven’t had a great start to the year, losing at home to Trinity and then getting a draw at Wortley, and lie 2nd 10 points behind the leaders Stann. Their last 2 games have been promising and has seen them advance to the Terry Marflitt semis at the hands of FC Headingley and get to the quarter’s of the Leeds & District after a 3-0 home win last week. Hopefully the pitch is in good nick, which will allow both teams to get the ball down and play, promises to be a good game. ?-?
Leeds Medics & Dentists v Leeds University OB
Medics come into this game on the back of a cup exit at the hands of Beeston but before that, their form had been good defeating Bainbridge and getting a tight point in the draw with Trinity. Medics are fighting the cause to claw back Stann and a 2-1 win a couple of weeks back against them did their cause a world of good. They lie in 3rd only 2 points off Alwoodley with a game in hand. Uni lie 4th having played 12 games and have started the year with 2 wins (Elland & Hudds Am) and 2 losses (Gildersome & Stann). On their day they can beat anyone but which Uni team will turn up? A tight game ahead but the home side to nick it by the odd goal. 2-1 home win.
Stanningley OB v Trinity & All Saints OB
The leaders slipped up in their last league game, losing at home to Medics 2-1. Before that they had won 9 on the bounce and they are the divisional leading scorers, with 36 goals. Last week saw them put 5 past Shadwell to advance in the Terry Marflitt, eyeing a possible ¼ Final with Wortley, the winners going on to face Alwoodley. Trinity’s form this year has been mixed, getting a good win at Alwoodley, losing to Hudds and then 2 tight draws against Medics and Ealandians last week. They seem to suffer with player availability and when fielding their first 11, they are a side that contests well. If this is the week with their strongest 11, can see a possible upset, 2-3.
St Nicholas v Huddersfield Amateur
St Nicks lie bottom with only 2 wins all season, against their rivals at the bottom Ealandians & Trinity. Last week was an excellent result in the Leeds Senior Cup and they will hopefully take some confidence into this week’s game. They also won last time out in the league 4-3 v Ealandians which may suggest they have turned the corner? Hudds Am were unlucky by all accounts last week to go out of their Cup aet, but that little bit extra game time might just do them the world of good. St Nicks have played very little football since the season began and may be caught cold by a strong Hudds team. Hudds have won 1 and lost 2 in the league since the turn of the year and will hope to put pressure on the teams above them by getting all 3 points on Sat. With conditions not great, can see an ugly home win. 3-1.
