Re: Fixtures for the 13th March 2010 - Maflitt quarter finals day

Division 2

Alwoodley OB Res v Ealandians Res

Seen all Senr A sides this campaign and next in terms of numbers is Div 2. Liked the silky skills of Alwoodley Res when they played in the WRCFA Trophy and with Ealandians not performing at all well (why?) cannot see beyond a home win.

East Leeds Trinity OB v Old Modernians Res

This should be one of the games of the afternoon but think East Leeds Trinity will win with skill and upbeat tempo favourable features. East Leeds Trinity will be looking to iron out any wrinkles before their District Cup semi-final next weekend but at the same time they need to pursue a victory to further their promotion dash.  Mods Res have had a poor run in Div 2 but were outstanding last Saturday when they forced Hancock favourites Medics Res into extra time. Both will try and play exciting foootball and their is little doubt that under the management of Andy Hick Mods Res are heading onwards and upwards.

Heckmondwike GSOB Res v Farnley Sports

Is this the weekend that Heckmnodwike GSOB record their first win? They were a missed penalty from their first succes last Saturday against Spurs III. Farnley are not having the rub of the green and averaging a point per game. Playing well without taking points is not a happy situation and they will need to take at least a point to keep those below them a respectable distance away. Heckmondwike 2 Farnley Sports 1.

Huddersfield Amateur Res v Gildersome Spurs OB III

Hudd Amat Res are fourth and having a super season while not being able to dent the fortunes of the top three. A fine 7-1 win last wekend against Ealandians Res. With the Gildersome club in a mood to consolidate this season Gildersome  III are cutting things a bit fine although a large proportion of the team that reached the Hodgson final last season are now playing in Senior B. Home win 3-1.

Shire Academics Res v Beeston OB

Shire vastly improved after their winter break and are Hancock semi-finalists in their first YOBL season. Beeston OB head  Div 2 and have reached the Shield semi final. Only eight league games left so in a good positon not to suffer unduly from any fixture backlog. Go for an away win 1-3.

Trinity OB Res v Bramley Juniors Res OB

With the top teams in the excellent Div 2 competition living cheek by jowl Bramley will need to come away with all three points on Saturday to keep pace in this exhilerating promotion race. Trinity found the thrust to pull away from the doldrums and are secure in mid-table. That should give them a free hand to attack without fear against Bramley but not sure they will cause an upset. Still very important that Trinity keep their eye on their next target and that is their Hancock Cup semi-final with Shire next Saturday.
