Divison 5
Leeds City v St Bedes III
2 losses out of 2 for the thirds hope we snap out of this poor start soon

A slightly changed team with Mick Hayward, Tim Underwood, Dave Allen and Nick Temo not available, meant Dave Whitwham starting and Bryn Davis and Bob Hume on the bench.

Bedes started off the brighter team, and for the first 20 mins it was virtually one way traffic, with some reasonable football being played on a small pitch. It was no surprise when a superb move involving Burke, Sharp and Rajas resulted in Dave Whitwham pouncing on a loose ball in the six yard box and making the score 1 - 0.

After this though, Bedes could not get into the game and rather than using the pace of Benson and Rajas on the postage stamp pitch, we resorted too often to the long hopeful punt that the Leeds defenders easily won against the more skilful but not powerhouse Bedes forwards.

This set the scene for the remainder of the game and whilst the defence, superbly marshalled by Jason Davis, never looked like conceding from open play, City Reserves scored either side of half time from 2 set players. The goals were similar, one being from a free kick and one from a corner, but terrible far post markings allowed City's best player to nod in 2 goals. City are a decent team, and will be up if they keep this squad. Their best player looked Senior B standard.

All in all, an inept unfit display from Bedes III, and a week off next week to recover for some of those old creaking bones!

MOM Dave Whitwham.
