It's been a tough start to the season for both sides, struggling to get a settled 11 with availability being so poor. We were able to start with our preferred back four for the first time this season and it gave the rest of the team the confidence to play football. It was a gamble to leave out 4 of last seasons cup winners but one which ultimately paid off. We expected the fours to battle hard and maybe kick a few of us about but it turned out to be the tangerine that rolled their sleeves up and got stuck in. The fours played some nice football in their half but struggled to create too many chances in the final third. Conversely, we moved the ball quickly to the front two and their pace & quality was too much for the IV's defence. Newcomer Brad bagged two, Magic got his head on the end of a flowing move for one, Salter picked up one before making way for last seasons top scorer Foxy who got a hat-trick in the last 20mins, ridiculous. Anyone that's actually seen us play this season would have never of written us off in this contest - there's quality in this side and with it all available for the first time we were always going to score a few goals. It's just a shame it was our own club that came up against us this week. The IV's are a good bunch of lads and with a few key changes will turn their season around. A special mention to the boys on the bench this week - the attitude was spot on but it shows there's massive competition for places. Now to the league....
